My Story

3/25/08 - Currently in NY w/ Tucker. Here she is....Miss America. Well that's how she presents herself. Beautiful Dark red coat, great shape and carries herself elegantly. Maggie was born April 9, 2003 and will soon be 5 years old. She was born and raised in New York until May of 2006. We then were transfered to South Carolina. We think she loves the weather and then the next thing you know she wants to be in the airconditioning. Maggie is a runner and a good hunter. She is truely an excellent companion and will stand by you. Our situation has not allowed us to find adequate housing for her for about 3 months during our transition. We hope that she will understand and find love, attention and devotion in her new home. The kids arrived last week and have now spent a bit of time with me. I will schedule Tucker in for neutering this week and perhaps Maggie as well if she can be fit in. She is however in heat at the moment so unless she was bred I'll wait until she is out of heat before going forward. Both Dogs do well with other dogs. Maggie is calm and submissive while Tucker is the more dominant one. Tucker will bark at other dogs through fences but it is not an aggressive behavior he merely wants to play. Maggie is quite and reserved when outside and prefers to watch what the other dogs are doing rather then take part or instigate play. Maggie walks well on a leash, however Tucker will need a bit of "manners" training to be able to not tug when he sees another dog or person. Neither so any interest in jumping 6 foot fences. Both seem comfortable around my cat although again Tucker wants to play and investigate while Maggie shows an interest but not overly so. Both did well around my Daughter 3.5 yrs old. Maggie is calm where Tucker was all over the place circling and running with her around the downstairs. He did not knock her over however and seemed to enjoy the attention. I have begun to groom both of them up and it will be an ugly long process as both are matted messes and required full shaves of the pantaloons and a majority of the chest as well. Tucker should be ready to be placed in a home anytime next week provided I can get him in early this week for the neutering. If you need other information of if I have left something out please let me know. An application, vet reference, home visit and a drive to NY a must to meet our dogs! Adoption fee required.
