MAIZY
Falmouth, Maine
UPDATE: 11/15/08 -- Maizy has found a temporary foster home in Falmouth, Maine. Thank you to Valerie and Bert for stepping up for this sweet girl when she needed you the most! Her foster situation is very temporary and we are looking for a longer-term foster for Maizy.
Maizy is just a delight! Beagle lovers - this is the girl for you! Maizy is overweight at 20 lbs - she could stand to cut down on snacks:) She is estimated to be between 8-10 years old but show no signs of slowing down.
Maizy gets along very well with other dogs and is reported to be fine with cats as well. This is a happy-go-lucky girl who would love to have a family to call her own to take her for walks and cuddle on the couch.
Maizy is a Beagle so is not trustworthy off leash. She will follow her nose as all good Beagles do. She walks well on leash and loves to ride in the car.
An ideal foster or adoptive home for Maizy would be one where she is not left alone for long periods of time and one with a fenced in yard. Maizy also would be fine with older children.
Maizy would make a wonderful companion for a retired couple or individual. She is sweet, friendly and gives kisses. She makes funny grunting sounds when you rub her ears:)

We have recently been asked to help a breeding kennel in Maine that also operates as a makeshift shelter for its rural town.
This kennel has no facilities for larger breed dogs. As a result, any dogs that are not toy breeds turned into this kennel are housed in outdoor pens. The smaller dogs live outside during the day and in tiny cages at night. As we all know - it is getting COLD!
Maizy is one the pups living at the kennel. She came to the kennel after she was thrown out of a car window in front of the kennel owner. This girl is so sweet - she deserves a warm bed and a loving caretaker. Maizy is currently sharing her pen with 8 female small breed dogs.
We have no information regarding Maizy's behavior towards kitties - so a cat-free foster or one with the ability to seperate is needed.
We are currently looking for a foster home in Maine for Maizy where she can be warm and loved until a forever home is found. If you can help, please contact: [email protected].
