Major cutie at your service! Major is an older man looking for a retirement home. Major unfortunately ended up at the shelter when his elderly owner could no longer care for him. He's said to have previously lived with kids, but due to some arousal at the shelter we think he'd do best with older pals at home. Major is available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. Like lots of itchy dogs, he wants ALL of the pets and you can earn his love by giving him good scratches. However handlers should be careful when petting Major because unfortunately he has some raw patches that are bleeding. Major will rub these wounds against things (including you) so be vigilant and redirect him when he does this. Major is overall well-behaved, he does not jump, mouth, and is very friendly/sweet. However he is SUPER excited by other dogs and pulls very very strongly towards them. He is a large dog so very strong. Per Staff 7/13/24: Major was standing by the door when I approached. He had soft eyes, a big open, panting mouth, and mid level wags. He was patient for leashing and came right out once secured. Doesn't pull all the time, and actually walks with a slack leash at some points, but when he does pull he pulls pretty hard. As soon as we got into the room Major was rubbing his body along my legs and soliciting attention. He allowed some all over pets and pushed his butt into me for more pets. His poor skin is so itchy! I sat down in a chair and he hopped his two front paws into my lap, leaning in and cuddling. He soaked up some attention for several minutes, giving some kisses here and there. When he got down I offered him treats, which he took gently. He liked pupperoni best and showed me a handsome "sit". Major allowed all handling without any issues, and was just happy to get some attention! As soon as I started running around Major got too aroused and immediately began mounting me. I could pull him off but when I walked away he followed me and tried again. I ended up tossing a handful of treats in another direction for him to go sniff and eat, and this worked for a few minutes, but he came back and was pretty persistent.
