Margo is an adorable 8 yo female Malinois weighing approximately 50 lbs. Like many of our dogs, the story of her previous life is unknown except that she was once a mama to some pups. Despite her age, this girl has a "I'll go wherever you go" attitude, ready to jump into new experiences with youthful curiosity.
When Margo initially entered our program, she shared a home with 3 large Shepherds whom she immediately accepted as her new family. Unfortunately, their resident cat was too enticing, and we quickly learned she would need to be in a home without felines. She currently resides in a home with a large Malinois male (see Shadow) who seems to let her run the show. The two engage in play every now and then, but both seem to prefer human attention more than anything else. Balls and Nyla bones are enjoyed peacefully, but Margo often will do her best to steal what's his and make it hers. She humbly relinquishes, however, to her human referee without one ounce of protest.
In the home, the two fosters spend much of the day lounging on dog beds with frequent Pet-Stops for calm affection. She is not intrusive, but she knows how to warm her way into your busy schedule for affection and belly rubs. This gal has an unusual attraction to fabric and "linens" and will quietly cut patterns out like she's creating a snowflake. Supervision is necessary to quickly substitute a more appropriate chew toy. Margo also has a unique talent to catch houseflies. In fact, she's quicker than a hand-held zapper for those in her reach!
Margo is accustomed to waiting at home peacefully during long workdays with her co-foster. When she reunites with her human, she exuberantly vocalizes her joy while doing her best to make physical contact with you. True to her Malinois traits, this may include 'vertical clatters' which can sometimes come as a surprise. Simple squirts from a water bottle or calm redirection are highly effective to limit this behavior until she regains her calm composure. Because of this instinctive behavior, we feel she would do best in a home without young children.
Dog walks are a delight for Margo, where she has learned to ignore other dogs and distractions (well, except squirrels!). She is physically agile and will jump into a vehicle for any adventure. This gal is quick to learn and wants to please her people. Margo is housebroken, uses a dog door, and sleeps quietly in her crate throughout the night. She is a bundle of delight in a small delightful package.

Understanding Dog Levels
Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. (https://www.gcgsr.org/dogs.html#levels)
Additional Adoption Information
For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (https://www.gcgsr.org/adopt_info.html) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state.
Puppy Requirements
We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy (https://www.gcgsr.org/puppies.html) email us at
