My Story

Meet Margo! Margo was brought in as a stray to Moreno Valley Animal Services, and when she was not claimed, she soon became at risk of being euthanized. We scooped her up to become a Frosted Face on January 17th. She is 8 years old, weighs 45 lbs., and is very sweet and gentle. It's sadly evident that Margo has not had an easy life, and we are looking for a special family that is willing to provide the loving care she needs for her remaining years. Simple things bring her joy - she does an adorable little dance when you bring out her leash! - and Margo deserves every kindness and comfort. Margo has weakness in her back legs that would make a home without stairs preferrable, unless she can be carried up and down. Hardwood floors can be slippery for her, but a path of rugs or mats are an make it possible for her to get around. Margo would love her future home to have a yard to walk around and explore. Margo lived with a Foster family for two months and really blossomed in a calm and loving home. Her Foster Mom shared what they learned about her: "Margo is kind and sweet and gentle to all humans. She will accepts pets from anyone, albeit with flinching. She was nothing but perfect with every human she met. Margo settles into her routine once it's established - she's a smart girl and knows how to find and use all her things - her cozy beds, her crate, her potty area in the backyard, and her food bowl. Margo did fine with our dog. They didn't play together or snuggle together. She did boop our dog on the booty every now and then at the beginning of walks, and it was clearly playful and friendly. But, Margo didn't like the dogs at the park. She didn't like the little dogs and snapped at a few. She also didn't like the big dogs who loped up to her and bumped into her. Our dog didn't push her, nudge her, or anything which is what she liked. Margo really loved going for walks around our neighborhood. She is a delight on the leash and loves to walk at an even pace and sniff everything. She was taking two walks a day with us, each walk around 20 minutes long. Margo really liked to eat alone, and she did well eating off a paper plate. I don't know if the lack of border caused by the bowl made it easier for her to eat, but we found out that she liked paper plates and we stuck with it. She was eating 3 times a day with us - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We wanted to try to put some weight on her so we tried to be flexible and make food a priority. She didn't like dry dog food and we were adding FreshPet, Coscto brand canned dog food, real chicken, and sometimes Pedigree brand canned food. She was eating well during her time here and took her meds in a hot dog - no problem! Margo has a sweet soul. She was very much a shadow to me and had a hard time resting unless she saw that I was resting. She would often follow me around until I sat down. Sometimes, I sat down so she would get comfortable and rest. She is a bit nervous, and sometimes has a hard time relaxing into rest. Margo loves being home with her humans, and her dream is a quiet house with maybe one or two other mellow dogs. She would make a great addition to a home where the vibes are mellow and there are fluffy blanket beds all around." Margo currently lives in a Foster home, for which we are very thankful. She is so much more comfortable in a home environment.
