My Story

Marlin is a 2 year old sled dog. He was surrendered to the shelter with several of his friends because their owner is moving out of state. He is a big, happy guy who is friendly and outgoing. Marlin was born on Dec 20, 2003. His previous owner says that Marlin is a team dog and knows Hike. He comes from working lines and is not suitable as a housepet; he is a bundle of energy. He is said to be good with children and other dogs, but not cats. Marlin is already tattooed.

Marlin went mushing with our volunteers on Thanksgiving Day 2005:
"Marlin is a large grey male with a sleek body. Probably around 60-70 pounds. He wore an extra large harness. Marlin is young, just 2 years old this December. He is a very driven dog with beautiful lopes. I tried slowing WAY down to see if he would trot, but he wouldn't, just kept up that nice steady lope. We started out going pretty fast too so he definitely has some speed. I could see this dog in the 1 dog Jr. class or being a driving force in any mid or distance (possibly even sprint!) team.
"He did great. He has tons of drive and enthusiasm. He's a LARGE dog, built very nicely with a beautiful lope. Marlin would be a great addition to any team to add a LOT of power. He is happy and well socialized. At the shelter he was quite exuberant, but in the team he is well mannered, doesn't chew lines and isn't a harness bangers. He gets along well with other dogs."
