My Story

Marty, formerly known as Marcel is a sweet loving adult poodle who sadly came to us from a horribly abusive situation. He was adopted, but due to no fault of his own he has come back into rescue. We consider him a special needs dog because he definitely has some emotional Trauma from his past life. Because of his past he does have some trust issues with humans and must have a home that is comfortable with taking the future with him slowly and teching him trust. He is not aggressive at all, but he will avoid all humans until he is ready amd for his safety needs a secure environment and owner. He has become very good at avoiding humans when triggered, but also is the most loving, gentle dog when he knows that he is safe with you.. We have seen the good side of him and know that in the right hands he will flourish . He is great with other dogs and must have another confident dog in the home to help with his socialization. Once he feels safe, then he will bond to you like glue. Absolutely no cats! Older dog experienced children are fine. A super loud, active home probably would not work for him. He does well when crated when you have to leave him at home. He's house trained once you understand his cues. In the beginning it is best that he goes outside with his primary human and walked on a leash in a securely fenced yard. He will not come to humans when he does not know you so security is definitely primary for him.
