My Story

Maudy is a very sweet giant schnauzer/greyhound mix. We were told she was a giant greyhound mix but after being around her and looking at her, we think maybe she is a Portuguese water dog mix. That is also pure guess on our part, but she looks like one. She is a WONDERFUL dog who loves everyone and all the dogs she has met so far. She has been living with a family for the last 18 months. It was supposed to be a temporary thing but the owner decided he didn't want her back. That is not a bad thing since she had lived outside on a chain which is not good for any animal. For the last 18 months she has lived with two other dogs but the older smaller female decided she didn't like Maudy, so Maudy needs a new home. She is a quick learner who wants to please. She would be great at agility. She has loved having male dog to play with but she would also do well as the only child dog. She does need exercise if she doesn't have another dog to romp and play with. She is doggy door trained.

Maudy is truly a doll, and she likes to stick to her person like glue. She weighs about 30 pounds, tall and leggy, and looks like a schnauzer in the face, feet, and hair, with the tucked-up body, slight brindling, and graceful bound of greyhound. Her bottom teeth stick out too which makes her all the more charming and endearing. She is brilliant in ways that amaze, the kind that comes out of nowhere and you wonder "how on EARTH did she figure THAT out?!). She's very quiet and respectful, and will sit with her head in your lap for hours. We have friends with kids 8 years and up, and she does well with them. She's interested in them, then ignores them. She has been around one cat and did "okay" with him, she liked to bark at him to make him puff up and spit. She really thought that was great fun :D . We have horses and Maudy is out with them frequently, and she is great with them! Very watchful of their feet, quick to move out of their way, and never chases or scares them. She is spayed and on heartworm preventative during mosquito season.

A great little dog! While Maudy gets along with all dogs at daycare, she does not care for female dogs in a home situation so she will need to be an only dog or with a male dog only. She has really had a hard life and needs a warm caring person with either a male dog or no dog to love her. She is just waiting for you to come visit her. Maudy finally found a wonderful home with the young male schnauzer from the mill dog rescue! Yea Maudy!
