My Story

If you understand anxiety, you'll understand Max. He desperately wants to connect with people - he's desperately lonely - but Max just can't handle too many people or too much activity at once. He panics and reacts. Max has friends -- and we can tell you, he's the sweetest, snuggliest, goofiest, cleverest and most utterly devoted and adoring friend ever! He loves fetch and tug, and then he loves to fall asleep in your lap as you sing to him. You don't have to sing well -- Max doesn't judge. There's not a mean bone in Max's body, but all of his bones are worried and on high-alert. Max was adopted by a wonderful family, and he had excellent house manners, but his anxiety got the best of him and he spent his time "protecting" the family members from each other, and the entire family from their dog. So, Max is not a family dog. Max is an introvert's dog. A dog for someone who lives alone (or maybe with one other adult), and who doesn't have a lot of visitors. Someone in a peaceful setting with a big yard -- Max LOVES to run, and it's an absolutely breathtaking site! If you're looking for a ride-or-die, you and me against the world partner who will absolutely adore and cherish you with every fuzzy fiber of his being, and you're willing to sing to him, then Max is for you. If you have kids, other pets, a loud/chaotic household, or poor grip strength (Max pulls hard on-leash), then Max is not for you. PLEASE SHARE THIS POST -- we know Max's special person is out there somewhere. Shelter life is really wearing Max down -- it's one trigger after another, so much anxiety, so much panic. He's too sweet and loving to be so lonely and afraid. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, every day including weekends and holidays. Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon! PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
