Melanie

Meet Melanie, everyone’s favorite pygmy hippo / land walrus / truffle pig. Melanie was found as a thin, tick and flea infested stray by a Good Samaritan. She was newly postpartum and actively lactating but her puppies were no where to be found. (Fingers crossed that they’re all doing well.) Melanie has since been spayed, vaccinated and bathed many many times. Melanie has been thriving in her foster home and wants nothing more than a loving forever of her very own. It's hard to say how old she is, but the vet guessed somewhere around 4 years. Melanie is as close to perfect as they come and is truly an ideal companion. She is house trained, extremely cuddly, calm, medium sized (40 lbs), low maintenance and gets along well with everyone she’s ever met. Her most commonly assumed position is belly up, waiting for passerbys to give her a good scratch. Mellie likes all dogs, big and small, all people and is totally unbothered by vacuums, skateboarders, leaf blowers and the like. She loves car rides and has jumped in to a strangers car on more than one occasion. Mellie walks perfectly on the leash, knows basic commands and is so gentle with her toys that she just carries them around suckling on them. Mel is happy to walk but is even happier to waddle around the living room and wiggle around on the couch. She takes treats with a soft mouth and promises to be your forever friend in exchange for some peanut butter and some kisses. Mellie’s tail is constantly wagging, sometimes even in her sleep, and her face is always plastered with that classic velvet hippo grin. If you love a low-rider, this is your dream dog. She would do best in a home that wants a lazy cuddlebug and doesn’t mind some snoring.
