Miami, 2 year. 75# neutered male, American Bulldog mix. Good with dogs, kids, leash, crate-trained. Miami is an affectionate boy who gets along with dogs with proper introductions. He is still working on perfecting his house-training, and will do well if crated at night or let out one additional time late at night. While he interacts well with older children, he still experiences occasional nervousness, though he's letting his guard down and realizing he enjoys being with a family. He would do best with kids over 8. He can still be a bit head shy, and we are working on his recall off-lead. He can jump fences, so a 6 foot fence will be required. His favorite spot is the sofa or snuggling in bed, so he definitely needs to be an inside, family companion. Initially, he may exhibit shyness, particularly around men. Once he gains your trust, he is a sweet, affectionate boy. Thus, we're seeking an adopter who can continue nurturing his confidence and trust with gentle and patient care. It's essential for his new home to provide him with ample time to acclimate, requiring a commitment and understanding that he may take at least a month of time for him to get used to his new environment. Having another dog in the household would greatly assist in his adjustment process. As we evaluate applications, our priority is to find the ideal match for Miami – someone who can provide the nurturing environment necessary for his well-being and growth. Having spent most of his young life living in a shelter, we're dedicated to ensuring he doesn't return to that environment, so we're being selective about his placement.
