Mikki

Mikki’s previous family surrendered him because they were not able to properly take care of him and provide the necessary medical care.

He came into the rescue with a very bad and painful ear infection, hotspots around his neck area and a coat that was matted right down to the skin.

Mikki has since received the much overdue medical care and his ear infection and hotspots are clearing up nicely. He also went to the groomer where he received a nice short haircut.

It is obvious that he is feeling much better as he now allows his ears to be touched and drops administered, and he has started to play with other dogs and his stuffed toys.

He loves going for long walks, mainly ignores the other dogs at the park and his leash manners are impeccable.

Due to being confined mainly to the house and backyard at his previous home, he is a bit shy when meeting strangers. He gets worried and will act defensively if someone whom he does not know well is paying too much attention to him.

His new family needs to understand that it just takes him a bit longer to trust someone perhaps due to some bad experiences in the past, but once he feels safe he is very loving and playful.

I would like to see Mikki in a home where he will receive the things that he probably has missed out on in the past – such as kindness, stability and long daily walks at the park – a calm safe home to call his own.
