My Story

If you are yearning for a shy sweet playmate who loves to play ball and splash around in the water, Millie is waiting to meet you. She is a handsome 2-year-old Boxer/mixed breed girl with a statuesque figure, a warm brown and white coat and a gentle soul looking for her forever home and family.Millie was brought into shelter by a kind stranger who found her, so her first years on earth are a bit of a mystery. She is a bit shy around strangers but has warmed up people she has met. She is full grown at 2 years old and 47 pounds, making her a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds). Millie is a laid-back girl who also knows how to enjoy herself with other dogs and with children as she demonstrates her love of play and games. It is not known currently whether Millie is comfortable with cats.Being a good housemate and friend requires learning manners and Millie is doing quite well with leash training. She is already leash and housetrained, but rescue dogs can have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, new family, and new routines. If crate training is planned, Millie requires a crate that is big enough for her to stand and turn around in as well as lie down comfortably. Crates should be cozy, happy places for dogs to hang out. Millie needs time to explore her crate and go in and out as she wishes. Connecticut has plenty of beaches and lakes for splashing around, tossing a ball or a stick so Millie can dive right in and come back all wet and happy. Summer is the perfect time to introduce this mellow girl to fun and games, waves, sand and all the love she deserves when the time comes to clean up and settle down for a cuddle and a nap.The adoption fee for Millie is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours.
