Miss Pup

This sweet 4 y/o, 55 lb. girl was *literally* prepped for euthanasia and moments away from having her life snuffed out in a NC shelter when we were able to intervene and she was whisked away to a temp foster. She appears to be a Shiba Inu or perhaps a Corgi MIX as she is tall and robust at 55 lbs. Maybe part lab or hound? She also seems to have been well cared for, so we do not know why she ended up as a stray and in a kill shelter where no one ever came for her. :,-( Here’s what we know about her so far: She is extremely sweet and affectionate, has no known health issues, low to moderate energy, walks well on the leash, does not resource-guard, and does not seem to have a prey-drive (so she *may* be OK with cats) . As far as other dogs — Miss Pup has no problems walking past them, she just doesn’t want them in her immediate personal space. Her reactions are fear-based so we believe that with the right family and with the right dog, she may turn out to be okay with another dog. She just doesn’t know HOW to be a dog in a pack because she has never been taught pack behavior. So for the time being, she would need to either be the only dog in the home OR with somebody willing and able to keep separate from any other dogs in the home until she can be integrated.
