My Story

FOSTER NEEDED!! Missy was picked up as a stray early January in Arkansas. In mid January, she traveled to her new foster home in Tennessee. In early February, she was found to be pregnant by the TN vet. In mid February she traveled to NC to remain in a foster home until she delivered and weaned her puppies. Missy is very smart. She picks up what is expected of her fairly quickly. She is very soft on the leash; she still needs to work on going out the door as she wants to hurry out. Missy does not “heel” but instead ambles alongside you. Missy thinks she needs to herd the deer, birds, squirrels and ground hogs and will pull on her leash to do so. She is always very alert and watches carefully. Missy has a high prey drive so small dogs, cats or small animals is not recommended. There was a big dog in her first foster home that she did very well with. Missy takes verbal correction very well. She will counter surf at times, if not supervised, so don’t leave any food out that she should not eat. Missy’s best habit/trait is she is very affectionate, loves to be wherever her person/people are. She just wants to be with someone. She will get in your lap, if allowed. She’ll also herd you or weave between your legs. Missy loves her people but is slow to trust anyone else. Introductions to someone new should be done slowly. Missy is crate trained but sometimes requires a treat to go into a crate. Other times, she prefers sleeping in the crate with the door open. Missy will need to go through Heartworm Treatment before being available for adoption.
