Missy is a beautiful pure bred 10 month old Sable and White Smooth Coated Collie.
With the smooth coated (short hair) Collie you get all the benefits of the wonderful Collie personality with out the grooming needs of their rough coated (long hair) cousins.
Missy was turned in to a high kill shelter in SC because she was "too hyper with the kids". We were told the man who turned her in said that he bought Missy and one of her siblings when they were 8 weeks old as pets for his 2 year and 4 year old children. He said now the dogs run and play together and had knocked the children down......So Missy was turned in for running and playing with her sibling. Her offense was that she was acting like a healthy 6 month old puppy?!
Missy's biggest problem was the adults in the family not understanding puppies do run and play hard.
There also seems to be a lack of responsibility to watch small children around playful puppies.
Missy does love to play with her new foster dog mom, Callie (a Rough Coated Collie), and her foster siblings. She runs and jumps and is having a great time being free to be a puppy with out being scolded.
Missy is learning it is not polite to jump up on people to get attention and how to sit to be petted and for treats at snack time.
Missy is very comfortable in the house. She seems to be house trained and also crate trained.
Missy walks well on lead and does not pull . She will be working on some lessons to learn some more commands.
Missy has a very sweet gentle nature and like any good Collie she wants to herd other dogs away so she can be right next to her people.
Missy will make an excellent companion.
Missy will only be adopted to a family where she will be a valued inside member. Missy's new family must be familiar with the Collie and love this herding breed.
