Monica (Photos 6/4/2024)

Monica is a beautiful 3-year old (possible) Spaniel/Hound mix who was brought to the HSOV late in the afternoon on June 4, 2024 by Good Samaritans who found her on State Route 26 in Washington County Ohio (near Bloomfield Ohio) along with her younger companion (Phoebe). Neither of the girls were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Monica has a black short smooth coat with a subtle wavy texture, white paws, black ticking on her front legs, a long tail, and a symmetrically-marked face with expressive brown eyes, black freckles on her muzzle, and large floppy ears. Monica and her best friend Phoebe were understandably nervous when they found themselves in an unfamiliar place and couldn't understand what on earth was happening. Thanks to HSOV Executive Director Amy Rogers and Tracy Lynn Moore and our shelter staff who worked together to help these sweet dogs relax and know that they were already loved by them. Monica weighs 54 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Monica (and Phoebe) were held for three days so that their family would have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for these girls. These preliminary photos were taken on June 4, 2024 when Monica and Phoebe entered our shelter. We look forward to taking more flattering pictures of these beautiful girls when they are ready to accompany kennel techs/volunteers for outdoor 'glamour shots' on a bright sunny day in green grass to show off their true beauty.
