Monty

Monty is a gorgeous, energetic, playful 4 year old pit mix looking for a furever home where he has plenty of space to play and explore. He was found injured and alone, wandering Bear Mountain. A Good Samaritan brought him to a local vet, where they reached out to us for placement. After he received proper medical care, consistent nutrition, and was in a safe home, Monty began to show his true, loving, and fun personality! Monty’s favorite activity by far is playing tug-of-war with a rope toy, followed by taking walks. He walks well on a leash, and would even be a good jogging partner. It makes Monty feel very happy and proud when his humans clap and cheer for him when he plays or is being especially cute. In his foster home, Monty is sharing space with both canine and feline foster siblings, all of whom he gets along well with! Due to his history of abandonment and food scarcity, Monty displays food guarding behaviors and can be reactive during feeding time, growling or trying to nip if anyone messes with his food. With a consistent feeding schedule, enrichment (slow feeders, puzzle feeders, etc) Monty has grown more secure, and we predict his food guarding behaviors will decrease over time!! Due to his size (almost 80 lbs) and food reactivity, Monty should NOT be in a home with small children. He is with a 3 and 4 year old in his current foster placement, and has displayed absolutely no hostility or aggression, but would be happier in an environment where he does not need to be separated from his family! ~ Crate training in progress ~ Potty trained (he must be walked right after eating to reinforce this!) ~ Knows “sit,” and willing to learn more ~ Neutered ~ Vaccines UTD ~ Heartworm negative ~ All vet records available prior to finalizing adoption ~ Best boy in world, certified! ***PLEASE REQUEST A DOG ADOPTION APPLICATION***
