My Story

MOOSE BREED: Catahoula/Great Dane cross (possibly Terrier, too) AGE: 8 months old WEIGHT: 50 pounds Moose is active, athletic, smart and playful! He's a big, goofy, lovable dude who loves to give kisses and be where the action is. A diamond in the "ruff". LIKES: Very friendly, enjoys meeting new people. He loves to run, play, and explore his surroundings. He enjoys being outside in the backyard. He also LOVES playing with the other dogs in his foster home, though he does play rough and is mouthy. Due to his activity level, we recommend a home with a yard for him to explore and play (no apartments). Moose has a deep, loud, bark and uses his voice when playing or when alerting his people to something. He will find success in a home with people who have experience with working/power breed dogs. POTTY TRAINING STATUS: Almost 100%. He does really well on a schedule. CRATE TRAINING STATUS: Moose sleeps in a kennel each night. He might whine for a few minutes, initially, but settles quickly and sleeps through the night. During the day, while foster family is at work he's in a kennel for approx. 4 hours at a time. MISC. INFO: Would definitely enjoy a home with a doggy friend who is active and playful. Enjoys having toys to play with, especially hard chew toys. He is very food motivated which helps when training. His foster family is working on learning "sit" and "wait", leash walking skills, and going into his kennel for a treat reward. We encourage training classes to help Moose gain all the important skills to be the best canine companion he can be. He will be a fantastic jogging/hiking/adventure buddy, easily able to keep up, while giving him an outlet to expend some energy! He's definitely a pup who will need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep him entertained and keep him from making his own fun. ***NOTE: Moose seems to get along best with female dogs or submissive male dogs with non-confrontational energy. *** To further inquire about MOOSE, click on the link to submit an application. Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how MOOSE will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet. Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process.
