Courtesy Posting: SACRAMENTO, CA – ID# A686581 Mountain Dew X URGENT PLEASE - A young handsome “love bug” chow mix possibly with shepherd or husky at Sacramento City Shelter aka Front Street Animal Shelter- dog friendly, needs good home or foster and rescue asap, shelter is full, at risk for euthanasia soon due to time and limited space Please help us find a loving, home or foster, or a rescue for this dear young man the shelter fondly named Mountain Dew (MD for short). The Sacramento city shelter believes he is 2 years old and weighs 63 lbs and listed him as a chow mix, and we think he also may be part shepherd or husky. The shelter describes him as follows: “Hi I'm Mountain Dew! I used to be pretty scared here at the shelter, but I've really "blossomed" (as the volunteers say) into a cuddly, friendly boy. I can still be a bit anxious, so I might need some extra encouragement to get in a car or go on walk, but once I'm on leash, I'm great (only require a quick reminder if I'm walking too fast)! I also love treats, and love cuddles. I'm a pretty chill guy who would love to spend the days by your side. I also went on a doggie day out adventure with a volunteer on 5/18, here is what they had to say! 'Mountain Dew is such a lovebug! We took him to Davis where we walked around the arboretum. He was happy to sniff all the flowers and trees, and relax next to us on the grass and watch other people, including kids, go by. He also met some horses, which he looked at and kept his distance and kept walking. We then took him to a street fair downtown with lots of people and other dogs, and he walked along like a nice boy navigating the crowd with ease. We stopped for lunch and treated him to a grilled hamburger patty, which he ate like a perfect gentleman! We then went back to Sacramento, where he tried to sit on my lap, but it was too hot for a 60-pound lap dog, so he settled for leaning against me. He is a bit anxious and might pancake during a walk or take some coaxing to get into the car, but he just needs someone who's patient and will give him lots of encouragement." Mountain Dew has been kenneled with a female dog. However, if you have a pet of your own, a meet and greet is always recommended, as well as a slow introduction. MD was recently neutered and ready to go home.
