This is Mr. Belvedere (yes, the same as the show from the 80s that we all loved!) but his foster family calls him Mr. B. He is 10 years old and is a bit plump at 30 pounds. He has been easily shedding weight simply by well measured, high quality food but could still stand to lose a few more. Other than a little extra on his waistline he is a healthy guy. Anyone who meets him is shocked to hear his age because he is lots of energy and kisses to give.
He is completely housebroken, low maintenance and will be a wonderful companion. One of the benefits of opening your home to an older dog is that even though he is eager to go on a walk, he is also just as happy to lie next to you and take a nap when you aren’t in a walking mood. He just wants to be with you wherever you are and would be a perfect couch partner because he won’t steal the remote or complain about the show.
His foster family found a hilarious quirk. Whenever they yell “Red Robin”, like the restaurant commercial, Mr. B. runs around in circles and goes crazy with kissing. It is just the cutest and funniest thing you have ever seen. That is Mr. B in a nutshell…cute and funny.
He is a little finicky on what dogs he likes and doesn’t like. Some of the dogs in his foster home he perfectly fine with but others he tends to get testy. We haven’t quite figured out why but he would be great as an only dog but he could also be placed in a home with a brother or sister but it would be best to test that out first if he is going to have a companion.
Mr. B was a very lucky guy. He was dropped off at animal control in Philadelphia , PA and was luckily picked up by a volunteer right before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was taken there because his original family had got two puppies and Mr. B was just not adjusting to all that young energy (who can blame him!). Instead of trying to work it out, they just got rid of him and their decision almost cost him his life. This lucky guy now has a second chance at life.
