My Story

Hi there, I'm Mulan. Picture this: a furry shadow following you around, napping on your couch, curling up next to you. Yep, that's me! Me wuv humans. Other dogs? Sure! Cats? Nope. Kids? Love ‘em! Mulan is from Georgia where she was found as a stray. Her owner didn’t want her back so now she is in Canada looking for her forever! Mulan is about 4 years old and weighs about 50lbs. She gets along well with other dogs big and small. She is house trained. Her personality is sweet and happy go lucky! She always has a smile on her face. With a low/calm energy level, she is the perfect couch potato! Mulan is spayed, up to date on her core vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped. She is heartworm positive due to her previous owner not keeping her on prevention, but is receiving treatment via slow kill method. This is a weekly oral medication given for the next 7-8 months. Hearts of the North will provide this treatment to Mulan’s adopter at no charge until she tests negative. Heartworms are not contagious to other dogs (the vector is a mosquito). The Canadian climate does not cater to the entire life cycle of the heartworm. Furthermore, dogs are not contagious while receiving treatment as the treatment breaks the life cycle. *********** Mulan is located in a foster home. We are happy to coordinate a meet & greet for pre-approved adopters. To get started, please submit an adoption application at bit.ly/HOTNADOPT2024 Adoption process: Potential adopters complete our online application. From there, we set up a Facebook Messenger Chat to contact them to continue the screening process including checking references, vet checks, and a personal phone interview. Upon completion, potential adopters are pre-approved. From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption. Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. The adoption contract is signed and adoption fee paid to finalize the adoption.
