My Story

All pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered when appropriate. Please check here for updated adoption hours. A bit about me: Mylo came to us by way of NYPD after being found alone in an apartment. He was immediately friendly upon intake and allowed all handling. Mylo has been with us for a few weeks now and has made friends with staff and volunteers with his big brown eyes and wagging tail. It has also become evident that Mylo 'speaks' spanish! My ideal home: Mylo has come a long way in a few short weeks. At once shy with tucked in tail, Mylo now greets handlers with wagging tail and wiggly body. While we have limited history on Mylo, he has shown himself to be an enthusiastic and social dog. He will thrive in a home environment that provides daily mental and physical stimulation. Activities such as long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, along with regular exercise, will help channel his energy positively. Good with other pets? Mylo approaches other dogs with slight hackles, alert body, and wagging tail. With an exuberant male he is very tense in the yard but relaxes when he approaches a calm male. He engages in play with the calm dog, stopping and starting frequently, jumping on them, and zooming around the yard with hackles up. Since ACC does not do cat-testing in care, we are unsure of how she would be with cats. Good with kids? As a stray, we don't have much information on Mylo. He has been somewhat fearful in our care. Until we get to know him better, we recommend a home without children. How is my health? Mylo has received a full exam by our veterinarians and is in good health! He is already neutered and ready to go home. How are my leash manners? Mylo walks well on leash and doesn't pull. What is my behavior assessment? Mylo has been assessed at Level 3 - He will need to go to a home with experienced adopters, and we suggest that the adopter have prior experience with the challenges described and/or an understanding of the challenge and how to manage it safely in a home environment.
