My Story

This very HANDSOME and VERY BIG boy is in local foster care - more information coming shortly as he just came into rescue - he was removed from a home and neutered the same day so he was a bit stressed but so far he is doing very well in his foster home although he's very nervous. He will need some work in terms of trusting people and learning about his new surrounding s- his current foster family is keeping him separate from their other dogs and children for now but feel he would do great in a home with people who know the breed and who can work with him.

Na-Ki is 184 lbs and is now neutered and all vaccinations are up to date; he was tested for heartworm and is NEGATIVE.

He was removed from a home along with his husky sister due to financial reasons - owner said he was very protective of his children and he was not sure how he'd behave with others but the person writing this bio is the person who brought him to be neutered and all I can tell you is he was calm in the car, he got out of the car and was obviously fearful but never so much as raised a lip. He was totally stressed and still did quite well and as you can see the clinic staff had no problems with him (they didn't have a crate big enough of course so they had to tie him to the exam table - he was a perfect gentleman!
He was living in a home with small children and cats!!!

PAWS of New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.

We are often asked, "Why would you charge "so much" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support all rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in (discounted) vet care, and many people will want to adopt it. An older one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation; yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt it. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others. Most of our dogs have a sad story to tell, and some have suffered through years of neglect or abuse. We hope that you too are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. Without these funds, our rescue efforts would not be possible.
