My Story

MARCH 31, 2005: UPDATE

From his foster trainer: I ran him in an Xback harness. He pulls his brains out and is a good candidate to stay in the distance harness. But he did seem less agitated and I am wondering if part of his problem in the team was frustration with adjusting to the distance harness. I'm starting to enjoy working with this dog - hes a challenge but such a hard worker that its hard not to like him. MARCH 13, 2005:

Nobbins is a 5 year old dog that comes from a distance Quest musher's home. One of our volunteers took him in a sprint team and he had a beautiful lope and got along with the female beside him. Later on he was taken out skijoring with 2 different people, always beside a female and he did great. He liked being up front and ran very smoothly.

He is in foster care and it seems that he gets VERY excited at hook up. If he is beside a male dog he will jump on that dog and almost start a tussle. The foster trainer is really working with this behavior to try to get him over it.

He is SWEET with people and a very friendly dog. His enthusiasm though is not being channeled appropriately. He has been running some longer distances and does very well. He has a nice trot and a beautiful lope.
