My Story

MARCH 1, 2005: ADOPTED!!

Nutak is a lovely little boy, about 3 years old. His previous owner was advised to stop mushing due to a health problem, so Nutak and some of his friends were surrendered to Fairbanks Animal Control. (See also the listings for Coyote and Kobuk, who are from the same household.) Nutak has been known to fight with some dogs in his former home. But so far, Nutak has been on his best behavior and has been quiet around the other dogs. He rides beautifully in a car and has shown no destructive tendancies. He is very sweet and affectionate with women, but is afraid of men. Nutak is not housebroken and is afraid to be indoors. Not a big dog. He is very alert and watchful. Likes howling.

One of our volunteers took him on a test drive on February 4th in a 7-dog team (led by SCL dog Midnight):
"Nutak is a nice young boy who got better toward the end of the run. He seemed a little unsure and distracted at first and wasn't always on his tug, but coming home he did better. He is likely 2 years old or less and will likely get better. Nutak is a little growly with some males but ok with others. Neutering will probably help. Nutak was easy to handle, nice gait, good hair and build. This guy is probably 50 lbs. Not super fast but more of a distance type."

Nutak is being adopted by his foster home.
