Olivia

Our sweet Olivia has come such a long way since coming into our rescue in March! This sweet one year old hound mix girl was dropped at a shelter to be euthanized after being hit by a car and left on the road. She came to us with multiple breaks in her pelvis and both legs that had already started to heal over incorrectly. With an incredible foster offer, we were able to bring Olivia into rescue and get her the double FHO surgery and rehabilitation she needed. If there’s anything we can say about Olivia, it’s that she absolutely LOVES life. No matter how much pain this girl was in, she was always offering tail wags and was just happy to be alive. She keeps this mentality no matter where she goes and who she’s with, and it’ll be impossible not to have a smile on when with this girl. Olivia proved to have a great temperament during her many months of treatment as well. From crate rest to hard physical therapy sessions, she was a happy camper through it all. She does great in the crate, following training structure, and meeting new friends! You may notice Olivia walks a little funny. Due to what was required to save her back legs during surgery, it limits movement in the joints restricting how her back legs bend. But don’t let this fool you, it doesn’t slow her down one bit! Olivia gets around great, loves to play with other dogs, and keeps up with the best of them. Both her surgeon and her rehabilitation specialists confirmed she will continue to live a normal life. Because she does have hardware in her back legs, we can of course expect arthritis as she ages. She handles steps great! Though we would love Olivia to be in a home where she can live on the first floor.
