My Story

Meet Patches!! Isn't this big boy beautiful!! Don't let him fool you. This boy is an escape artist at its best and is considered a Houdini!! Patches is a sweet boy and toy driven. He came into rescue when his people sold their home and went on the road travelling and knew that Patches would do best in a safe secure home. Patches has a flight risk and needs a secure home. This boy is fun to play with in his own secure backyard. He loves his toys and enjoys playing with balls and sleeping with his stuffies. He loves his soft plush beds to cozy up on. He is house trained and crate trained. Patches will require a home that keeps him secure. His fenced yard must be secured with a strong padlocked gate as Patches knows how to open gates and will make a dash to run, and will not come when called if not bonded to his people. Patches does not like to go for walks and will pull hard on leash and harness. But when Patches is in your home with you, he is a cuddle bug, loves to play, grumbles to talk to you, and loves when a new toy comes home from the store for him. Patches loves to play in the yard with you and will play for hours. Patches has not been around children, and would not be best suited around children as toys are assumed to be his and he is a big boy and may knock a young child over. Patches is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and microchipped. Patches ideal home must have a good understanding of secure environment for Patches - not opening doors unless patches is secure, fenced yard with locks on gates so he cannot open them, and understanding that Patches is best not going for walks and just playing in his own secure yard. Patches is available for adoption through an approved application. Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.northwestminnesotaaussierescue.org/resources and clicking on the adoption application tab. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Once we receive your submission, our application review team will be in touch with you. Place have patience while they look over your application.
