My Story

Meet Patio. You may think that's a strange name for a puppy, but he got his name by how he found his way into the Freedom Ride family. This sweet boy was left on a PATIO in the blazing heat, in a crate that was far too small for his size, covered in his own filth, and scared to death about what was happening to him. Thankfully, he was found relatively quickly by his foster or his story might have been even more tragic. We can't imagine how a person could make the decision to leave any dog in those conditions, but sadly, Patio's story is all too familiar to us in the rescue world. Patio's story may have had a sad beginning, but we are so happy to be a part of his journey to make sure his future is bright and filled with the love and care he deserves. Patio is looking for a patient forever family to help him learn to trust and just be a puppy. He is not where we would expect a puppy his age to be in terms of housetraining, leash-training, crate-training, and basic puppy manners...but knowing the circumstances he came from, it isn't surprising. Patio is very sweet and eager to please, but he is also still very fearful of the world around him (you can't blame him for that), so adopters need to be prepared that training and trust will take some time with this special pup. His ideal home would also have people who are home most of the time, as he isn't a fan of being left at this point. This sweet boy just needs the right people to help him continue to learn about being loved and cherished and how to be a carefree puppy like he should be.
