My Story

Peanut (located in Grass Valley, CA) Look at this face Peanut is so adorable and quirky. She came from a shelter and was not doing well she is a strange little dog we have no history for her. She takes some time to warm up, she is not a cuddly dog. She takes time to warm up but when she does her big personality shines through, but that does not mean she becomes instantly loveable and cuddy. It means she will do zoomies and explore more. Peanut has a strange gait, she has neurological issues. Sometimes she will circle like pacing. She is potty trained but does have accidents. ??SPECIAL NEEDS FEATURE: PEANUT!?? Grass Valley, CA Did you know that we have special needs dogs in our rescue? Tonight we feature Peanut. She is a dear. ? Peanut was rescued from Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento, CA. She was not adoptable, as she had (and still has) difficulty trusting humans. It’s clear that humans have mistreated her. Since joining our rescue she has made incredible progress. She is with one of our most gentle and experienced fosters, who’s had the gentle, patient approach Peanut needs. Her foster has the following to share about Peanut’s current progress: “Peanut loves to play with humans and toys. She loves chicken, treats, and eating in general! After months of work, she now loves to be pet and scratched behind the ears. However, she prefers to initiate it. (And will need to slowly build trust first.) Peanut would do fine as an only dog. She is pee pad trained, with no interest in using the doggie door. She has low energy, sleeps a lot, and does not have any interest in going on walks. She does not at all like to be held or picked up. She would do best with somebody who is home a lot and a homebody. She loves to be at home and doesn’t really like to go anywhere. It makes her too nervous. ?? Peanut loves lying in the sun, lying on the back of the couch and loves to sleep next to or look out a window. She never barks and rarely makes a noise. She is an easy dog! She just needs time to warm up to her person. Once she does, she’ll greet you at the front door, follow you around the house, lick your hands, feet, and ankles, and will come to you for affection or to play.” We truly have Noel to thank for committing and investing in, little Peanut. Peanut will need a special adopter who understands her unique needs and someone who will never push her outside of what conditions help her feel most safe. Could that be you?
