My Story

These dogs are currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally. **Please read Pearl + Dixie Diamond’s entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Looking for not one, but two furry friends to complete your family? Look no further than Pearl + Dixie! Meet Pearl and Dixie Diamond, a pair of nearly 6-month-old sisters weighing ~30 pounds each (as of 8/2/2024). These precious pups were part of a litter abandoned and left to fend for themselves, but thankfully, caring individuals rescued them and brought them to safety. What makes Pearl (the solid white one) and Dixie so special? Their inseparable bond. Pearl is deaf and relies on Dixie to navigate the world around her. From the moment they were abandoned, Dixie has been Pearl's protector, ensuring her safety and keeping her company. They share a deep love for each other and are always found together, a true testament to their remarkable sisterly bond. Her foster says "Pearl has started recognizing and responding to hand signal to come to me. She is a very smart little girl! She is very calm, playful and so so sweet. And LOVES playing in water. She stays right beside you when walking. Dixie just cried when I called her as she ran to me. She likes to sit and simply watch me! She also super sweet and very calm. She loves to be loved on and belly rubbed. They are both amazing puppies!" Both Pearl and Dixie are typical puppies full of energy and curiosity. They enjoy playful romps, running around with boundless joy, and then snuggling up together for a well-deserved nap. They've also shown great compatibility with other dogs, making them ideal companions for households with existing pets. Given their young age, Pearl and Dixie are still learning the ropes and will need patient adopters committed to guiding them through housebreaking, crate training, and basic manners. With the right love and support, they have the potential to blossom into well-behaved, cherished family members. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this inseparable duo, please reach out today. Adopting Pearl and Dixie means welcoming not just one, but two bundles of love into your life, ready to fill your days with endless joy and companionship. All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
