My Story

Hi, I'm Pecan and I am a 1.5 year old German shepherd/mix and am the biggest sweetheart you'll ever meet. I love belly rubs, butt scratches, and snuggling/lounging on the couch or in bed with you. I love taking walks and do great on a leash. I show my excitement with tail wags and excitement whines when my foster family grabs the leash. I do have a bit of hesitation and reserved feeling when vehicles go by (especially loud, big ones). But once they pass I continue on my way . I also am interested in all the scents that are out there so sniffing is a must when I am out and about, and those squirrels and rabbits that my foster mom calls rodents are interesting to me too, so my excitement perks up, however with a slight tug of the leash and a NO command we continue on our way. I know how to sit and shake (which I can do without a command: I like to have my paws held), I also am responsive to the no/off command. We are working hard on the come and lay down commands, which my foster family is confident I'll learn with more work and treats of course. I was a bit apprehensive of my kennel my first few times in it, but now am comfortable hanging out in there durning the day while my foster family is at work and I sleep thru the night in my crate as well, however I wouldn't object to chill'n on the couch or a bed vs my crate, as I do well outside my crate also . I am house trained and learning a new trick that if I scratch at the door my foster family knows that is my indication I need to go outside. I do have a tendency to chase the squirrels that our neighbor feeds so I need to be watched closely when we are in the back yard specifically (so maybe a fenced in yard isn't a bad idea), but I am learning that chasing the small rodents is a no, no . We are working on knowing the boundaries of my yard. I am super chill and love to lounge around and just be with my family. However, I am still young and do get the zoomies which entertains my foster family . I love to play fetch, run, and can entertain myself with my stuffed toys and puzzle pizza. I am good with new people as well as other dogs. I haven't been around cats so not sure how I would do thinking I might be tempted to chase them?? So maybe a cat free home would be best. If I sound like the perfect fit to be your furever pup, I would love to meet up!
