Pending Adoption - Belle

Socialization/training: Belle does well with other dogs and cats. She would love to go to obedience class to learn some commands and bond with her new human. She will be ok with older children but because of her injuries no toddlers please. She is working on house training Crate trained: Yes, she is crate trained. She has not been leash walked and crated for so long that she has to catch up on that but she is learning fast. Leash trained: Yes but she pulls. She needs a harness to help reduce her pulling. Activity Level: She loves to explore the yard. She get excited easily but she also loves to cuddle when she's inside with her humans. Fence: Her adopter must have a physical fence please. Belle has been confined because of her injuries that needed to heal for so long she needs her own fenced yard. She would not do well at dog parks. No invisible fence. Behavior: Bell is an independent thinker and she is also a social butterfly! She is active and loves new adventures. Medical History: Belle is microchipped, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. She was hit by a car multiple times, and her pelvis was fractured in several places and her left femoral head was fractured and dislocated causing her to need FHO surgery not once but twice. All this before the age of 2 1/2 yrs old. Her left leg is shorter than the right but she does use it when she is not in a hurry!!! It gives her other hip and right shoulder relief from holding all her weight. 10 weeks after her last surgery Belle started Aquatic therapy in a warm water pool along with massage. This therapy has built the muscle back up in her left rear leg and relieved her front shoulder. Belle had been putting all of her weight on primarily the right front to compensate for the fractures in her pelvis and leg that the muscle was very large. She loves her therapy and would like to be able to continue with this type of therapy. She is also on a joint supplement. Needs to have warm water therapy with massage and joint supplement to help keep her healthy. Foster Comments: Belle has had a very rough beginning to her life. She escaped from her previous owners multiple times ending with Belle being hit by a car multiple times. Despite all this, Belle is the happiest dog you would ever want to meet. She loves going for walks and swimming!!! Belle's ideal family would be an active couple that wants an energetic companion. She needs a fenced yard so she can run around and hunt her butterflies! She would love to go on neighborhood walks but I would not suggest mountain climbing or challenging hikes although she might try to talk you into it! Foster location: Perry, GA Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US within a 1,000-mile distance between adopters & foster home. If interstate transport is provided for your adopted dog, there will be an additional charge of $50.00 for the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Certificate). Typically, we are able to transport your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. *Dogs can be adopted outside the 1000-mile transport distance; however, adopters must be willing to either fly their adopted dog, drive to a location within the 1000-mile transport range, or make independent transport arrangements for their adopted dog. Transports to far Western states, from Eastern states, may have additional restrictions.
