Meet Penelope, a gentle lovebug who is as sweet as honey. Penelope is around 5 years old and 70 lb. • Gentle and Affectionate: Penelope’s signature move is to melt to the floor (or into your lap) for belly rubs. She adores receiving pets and bear hugs, and returns the love with gentle kisses. • Mellow, Quiet, and Well-Behaved: Penelope is a mellow gal who walks gently on leash, never jumps, and has calm energy upon meeting new people and dogs. Although she loves physical affection, she is happy to let people come to her. She allows her foster parents to work from home and go about their activities without ever interfering or demanding attention. She is always quiet, calm, and patient. • House-Trained & Calm Left Solo: Penelope is house-trained. She sleeps soundly when left solo loose in a room (up to 4 hours during the day, 8+ overnight) without any anxiety or accidents. • Good with Mellow Dogs, No Reaction to Cats: Penelope has been completely non-reactive to dogs and cats on walks and integrated well with her foster family’s resident male doggos, who are similarly mellow. • Fits Right into Many Family Configurations: Penelope would thrive in most adoptive homes, as long as she gets the care and love she deserves! She would do great in a home with kids, respectful dogs who match her mellow energy, or just with a person who will give her affection and care. Penelope came to us with a sad backstory. She was brought into the Fresno Animal Shelter by a man whose tenant had moved out and abandoned her at the property when he left. Penelope came in with a male doggo companion, but we don’t know what became of him. Sadly, we don’t think he made it out of the shelter. She had puppies at some point in her life, but we also don’t know what happened to them, as she was brought to the shelter without them. Despite likely losing everyone she knew and cared for in a short span of time, Penelope has shown incredible resilience and continued to be an adoring girl who wants nothing more than to be loved. This loving, gentle spirit is being fostered in San Francisco, and is adoptable from Pack Lyfe Rescue!
