My Story

Arrival story: Poor little Peppy has a sad story to tell. His owner died and the owner's wife did not want Peppy any longer, so she brought him to the vet to be euthanized. Because the vet realized Peppy still had good years left in him and deserved another chance at life, she had the owner agree to turn the dog over to rescue.

Approximate age: 11 years.

Personality: Peppy is new to us but so far he seems very sweet, happy, and cuddly. He has lived in a home his entire life, so he already has house manners. Although he is great with the four other dogs in his foster home, he is displaying a tendency, at times, to want to be the dominant one. Therefore, he would most likely do very well as an "only" dog in his forever home. He was the only dog in his previous home, prior to ending up at the vet's office.

Forever home:Peppy does have glaucoma in one eye (as you can see from the pic) and also has some skin allergies on his paws. Currently, he is on eye-drops (to be given twice per day), but please do not let his little condition affect your decision to adopt Peppy. Like people, dogs do develop certain conditions that can be managed as they get older, but it does not prevent them from living a wonderful and happy life. Please consider giving this senior guy a second chance in a home where he will be loved and cherished until the end of his days - which at 11 years old could still be years and years.

Pre-Adoption Application:

To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to [email protected].

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $100 for senior dogs (such as Peppy), $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at PetSmart in Northville (on Haggerty Rd between 6 and 7 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
