My Story

Percy, Percy, Percy - a story of survival for sure. Percy is a 1-2-year-old Pit Mix who was found emaciated and starving in the hot Memphis weather. Despite being blind, he survived on the mean streets of Memphis, which is beyond imagination. The vet believes he has been blind since birth and described him as a gentle boy during the exam. Percy is now in a foster home and doing wonderfully. We are getting him in shape for his big journey to New England, as this special needs boy deserves only the best forever. Percy is super interested in other dogs - he does need to learn a little bit about "personal space" as he follows his foster canine sister around at close proximity and she's a bit annoyed. He does take correction very well when he's overdoing it though. This guy is super food motivated, which is helping his foster mom work with him on some training. They are working on basic commands, including leash walking, and he's catching on fast. He loves squeaky toys, and his foster mom loves tossing them around the room so he'll find them. Percy loves to be touched and is super happy to hang out cuddled up with you. His Foster mom is working on crate training. He will go in and sleep there (for safety, as he's blind) if you throw a treat in to make it worth his while. He does, however, make what his foster mom says is the cutest noise when he's in his crate, and he knows you're close by--after all, he wants to be with the humans! Once it gets quiet in the house, he's out like a light. This delightful boy will make someone(s) an amazing friend and companion - he learns his surroundings quickly and it does not keep him from being a happy dog.
