My Story

This exquisitely unique, wonderfully sweet, confident, hilarious, easy going guy is Meatloaf!! This guy came into the pound a while back and his owner redeemed him and explained they were going through tough times. As life continued to take a turn for the worse, the owner apparently was afraid to turn him over to the pound, knowing he would be put to sleep. When no one was around he drove to a nearby park that was routinely frequented by families, and left Meatloaf to fend for himself, perhaps with the hopes that a family would take him in. Meatloaf hid in the woods, but when there were soccer games at the park he would come running! He was soooooo excited for the games, working the crowd, giving kisses and tail wags to everyone! People would give him treats and share their snacks with him, and he was fast a fan favorite. Everyone at the park loved him and he was a great friend to children, adults, and other dogs alike. He was always on the lookout for a friend and would then retreat into the woods at the end of the day. Hearts broke for this guy and eventually he ended up in the pound where people rallied to ensure he would make it out alive and to rescue. A wonderful foster home who had seen him when he originally came into the pound agreed to take this boy in and give him lots of love until he finds his forever home! Meatloaf is about 3 years old, and he’s a perfectly voluptuous, meatloafy 80 lbs. this is not a tall 80, more of a thick 80. He has had all of his medical work completed and this guy is now fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, dewormed and neutered! He is current on flea, tick and heartworm preventative and he is now super excited to begin the next chapter of his life! In foster care he has continued to show that he is truly an exceptional dog. He has been incredible off the bat with other dogs. He is perfectly confident, not dominant nor submissive. If a dog is sassy with him, he just turns around and walks away. He’s not interested in any drama in his life and won’t waste his energy on it, he just wants a peaceful life and to be a friend to all. He can get excited when he meets cats but takes direction when you tell him these are his new family members, and lives with them now easily. Meatloaf is fantastic with his house manners, reliably going potty outside, and happily snoozing on the sofa while you go to work. While he definitely has that easy going mellow bulldog side, he also has the brilliant, adventurous heeler side! He is the best of all worlds. He will be the lazy bulldog when you have your lazy bulldog days, but he will most certainly rise to the occasion and love to do heeler adventure things! He loves to splash around in the pond at his foster home and enjoys going on hikes, walks, journeying through the fields, car rides, you name it! He will play fetch, chase a soccer ball, and mingle for hours at a bbq! He’s wonderfully easy going but also wonderfully smart, and is ready to follow your cues on what the day has in store. He isn’t a demanding guy, but rather a wonderfully brilliant and loving guy who wants to make the best out of every day and is so grateful to have a second chance. Meatloaf is pure perfection and we can’t wait until he finds parents who will truly cherish and appreciate him in all of his glory!
