My Story

Petey aka Sweetie Petey aka Petey Pie is in the market for a home to call his own! This little pittie boy was found wandering near Mount Hope Cemetery, but hasn’t let his previous experience hinder his love for life! Petey adores his humans and foster siblings (40 and 60 pound pit mixes). Estimated to be about 1 year old, Petey is full of energy and leans toward an intense play style with other pups. While he’s made excellent improvements with correction from his foster sister, his foster mom feels Petey would do best in a home without children (children 12 and up will be considered on a case by case basis). Petey’s foster is open to a home with other dogs, but also feels he would thrive as a solo dog with someone who can keep him physically active and mentally engaged! Petey has impressed his foster with his smarts, picking up sit and lay down in a matter of minutes. Currently they are working on down and stay, though these have been a bit more challenging with his high energy level! He is fully potty trained, and knows to ring the potty bell when he needs to go outside! He rarely takes advantage of this skill other than potty breaks, but has been known to ring when he REALLY wants to zoom around the yard. This sweet boy loves to play with toys of all shapes and sizes, and typically is an independent player. If another dog is around, they’ll race and tumble around the yard for a bit, but he’s just as happy to lay down in the grass with a nice chewy. Once he’s finished playing, or if he wants to take a quick break, Petey will trot right over to his foster mom with a huge smile on his face. If there is enough space (even just in his imagination), he may hop up and join you on the couch or a chair. Otherwise, he’ll happily accept some pets and pats before curling up at your feet. Petey would do best with an experienced adopter who is prepared to continue his training - basic skills, walking nicely on leash, and increasing his comfort with crate training. Petey's adoption fee is $400, which includes: his alter, a microchip, his rabies and DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.
