Pickles

Meet Pickles! This tiny nugget was found as a stray in Lancaster, SC. She's still a baby and only weighs 6lbs. She was scared, thin, covered in fleas, and so fortunate to be rescued after trying to survive on her own in this overwhelming heat. She's been in her foster home for a few days now and was exhausted when she arrived. We checked in with her foster mom for a quick update "Pickles slept for the first 2 days, but she's started to become more playful, and she let us know that she had to poop this morning. She's eating well and is very cuddly. She loves to be held and seems to like all people. She is not yet comfortable around our larger dogs so we are introducing her slowly so she feels safe." Pickles is new to her foster home and is learning the basics of home life...Her foster family has started working on crate training, and she's getting regular short leash walks in the yard to get her more comfortable on leash and lots of potty breaks. She's already getting invaluable socialization living with a mom, dad, other dogs, and kids too. FOSTER MOM UPDATE - 7/29/24 "She sleeps through the night like a champ! We have gotten up as late as 830 with her and she's been fine!! I definitely think she would benefit from being part of a pack and seems to enjoy it. She is playing with Goose almost nonstop and she's a rough-house player who can hang with the big dogs. She's a typical puppy who is curious and loves to explore. She's hilarious. She kind of jumps like a rabbit. Since I've been home, I have seen only three accidents and those were probably our fault. She tends to give signs when she has to go potty...which is awesome! She starts to walk around really fast and sometimes even goes toward the back door. My dogs are teaching her that she can't come up to their bowl while they're eating and she listens. She does get a little anxious when left alone, so we are working on doing short amounts of time in the crate alone. I'm feeding her in the crate now and that's going really well. I just haven't been able to shut the door yet, but I think in the next couple of days I'll be able to feed her in the crate with the door shut. Overall, she is a very happy and mostly confident puppy. Typical puppy curious about everything. On walks, she wants to meet everybody, but she's easily redirected. One of the cutest things about her is when she runs she hops like a rabbit every few steps." ***** This cutie has already had her first round of vetting and will be going back for a check-up and another round of shots before she makes the trip north to N.
