My Story

Meet Po! This 2 year old 14lb scruffy sweetie is looking for a loving home! He comes to us from a local Humane society in Texas. He was really struggling in a shelter enviroment and was SO HAPPY to be rescued from it! He's been a lover boy in his foster home, truly a grateful pup. His foster mom says: "Po is active and should have someone to give him play time/attention, with plenty of cuddle time too. He likes to stay close to his person so someone that is home a bit or wants an out and about companion. I think he has some Cairn terrier and fits that breed temperament. Po gets big bursts of energy (he's young!) and longer morning and early evening walks have been great for that. Po likes other dogs we run into on walks but haven't had one on one play time since he's been with me, I think he would do good with another dog as he seems super excited to play. Haven't been around cats or children with me, he plays mouthy so probably not very young kids. He sleeps in his crate at night and likes relaxing there throughout the day, but did not love being left alone in the crate with the gate locked just yet. It took him a day to get used to going to the bathroom on our walks but so far no other accidents in the house with regular potty breaks and walks outside. Needs some more attention on leash walking but still super pleasant to go on walks with him after he settles down from the initial excitement- he gets very excited at first at every dog and person we pass< but eventually settles down and walks at a steady pace. Hasn't shown interest in toys yet but would be good to work with him on this as he currently goes straight to mouthy play with his person. Has been picky with treats so it's been trial and error! I think he will like toys and treats and just might take some tries to see what he likes, and playing with him some more as he gets a little confused on what to do when I steer him away from pawing/mouthing. He has big bursts of energy when he gets excited, but lays right down for a nap whenever I'm not engaged with him. He is sooo happy for any attention he gets. Really warms right up to you immediately. Super curious about all the NYC goings on, but still getting used to it and sudden noises startle him. He hasn't marked or lifted his leg. He's been quick to pick up on cues so I think will be easily trainable." INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? To adopt Po, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email [email protected] to follow up on your application. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
