Meet sweet Pocus, the nicest guy in town. This boy just wants to be everyone's friend! He lives with three very small dogs, and he's not only sweet with them, he's loving. You'll find him giving them the gentlest kisses. He wants to play with them so badly, he would lovee to have a bigger doggie friend to play with and show him the ropes of this new world, but would be totally cool as an only doggie, soaking up all the lovins'.
Back in 2022, Pokie escaped euthanasia when a lovely foster in Texas pulled him just in time, and kept him safe in an outdoor kennel ever since. Yes, you read that correctly. Pocus has been waiting for this moment to finally come for two and a half years. She reports that on her farm he was sweet with the kitties and even the chicken/geese. Pocus even let the fowl drink right from his water bucket.
So needless to say, his first few days here living indoors in the suburbs after that long journey, poor boy was a bit of a fish out of water. But even from day one, he showed his kind heart to all. From the three small dogs to the two young kiddos, Pocus has been nothing but kind. Since that day, he's conquered the stairs and experienced his first television andthe vacuum. Holy scary, but Mr. Resilient is cool with it all already. He's so curious and just plain nosy tbh , he's stuck to his foster mama like glue. He loves learning all about the new indoor things, such a little Curious George.
Though he can have a bit of energy right out of the crate in the morning and putting his collar on him can look comical, Poke man is overall medium energy and settles down after a nice potty and breakfast. We're working on the command down because he does like to stand up on people for attention, and to see what is on the counter. Pocus already understands that command as well as no and loves the praise he gets when he listens. Mr. Smarty pants even learned sit in one training sesh! Poke lovesss to please and make his people happy, plus treats help!
Pokie has also learned that cuddling with humans on couches is the most fun thing ever, EVER. It's almost as if he can't believe that it's actually happening when he's up there snuggled up, you'll never see a pup so content.
Crate training? Crushed it immediately. He is silent and clean and can even be trusted in there with a bed and blankie! Leash walking? Already immensely improved. Day 1 he was zigging and zagging around a bit, but we've gone on a few and he seems to get it now! He only pulls when he sees something exciting going by. Potty training? Improving! Marks a bit so a belly band helps, and certainly his neuter will, as well. Plus he looks really cute in his little diaper. Mister does do all his outside!
This boy is soo ready to finally rest his head indoors and experience this forever home he keeps hearing about! After years of sleeping outside, it's truly incredible how far this dog has come in just days, imagining what his future holds is emotional and exciting. Pocus deserves it all.
