UPDATE: Poika, now NINA, has headed down to Santa Barbara with her new family!! Congratulations, Nina!! She loves being part of a family, and particularly loves her "brother" Buster.
Poika (formerly Layla) was rescued from the Red Bluff Shelter. POIKA needs a FOSTER or FOREVER HOME ASAP! Poika is a wonderful girl, very affectionate and smart. She seems to be about 3-4yrs. old and can be quite playful and puppy-like. She's medium sized, tho rather a hefty girl (65lbs), but she manages her size well even when excited. She's very responsive to the voice and wants to be good. She already knows the command "sit" and responds to other commands, tho we're not sure if its her intuition, or if she actually knows them :) After her first excitement, when she pulls quite a bit, she does quite well on leash and seems quite well socialized to people and other dogs. She likes water and sits nicely for her bath. She rides very well in the car and enjoys going along. She is overly interested in cats and we're recommending a no-cats household for her. Poika has such great potential to bond and be a wonderful companion. She's good company. The vet confirmed that she's already spayed. We would so love to find a cat free FOSTER or FOREVER HOME for this nice girl!! Her breed mix is just a guess. She's also been called a Border Collie/Akita or Border Collie/Husky mix. Its hard to know for sure!
