My Story

Meet POLLY ! Polly is a gorgeous Labrador Retriever mix that was found wandering out in the country in West Texas with many porcupine quills lodged in her muzzle and embedded in her gums on the right side of her face. She was found by a kind person and brought into a high kill shelter that does not provide veterinary care. A shelter partner, Levelland Animal Friends, was notified and Polly was taken to the local veterinarian. According to the veterinarian, the quills had been there for several days and because of that she could not eat and visibly had lost several pounds. The quills were removed and she healed quickly and got back to normal weight over the course of a couple of weeks. She is around 1 to 1 1/2 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. She is doing well on a leash and is a quick learner. She knows sit and shake…and really enjoys treats! She has a sweet personality and loves to give hugs (she is amazingly gentle with her hugs even though she is a tall girl)! She has a beautiful mocha colored coat and cute white socks on all four paws. If you look really closely, you can see a hint of brindle color on her head. She is good with other dogs. She's been around the foster’s cats, but she plays a little too rough for them. It would be best for her to not be in a home with cats. Polly's adoption fee is $500 which includes her spay, current vaccinations (rabies, 2 parvo/distemper boosters, and bordatella), negative heartworm test, negative fecal, health certificate, registered microchip, and transport costs. She is available through Levelland Animal Friends, a partner rescue of Project Freedom Ride. We are located in the Texas Panhandle. She is located with our rescue here in Texas. She would be transported on one of the PFR transports to either Meridian ID, SLC, UT, Seattle, WA, Mt Vernon, WA, Kennewick, WA, Portland, OR, Buffalo/Syracuse/Newburgh/Castleton on Hudson, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH, Springfield, IL, Chicago, IL, Des Moines, IA, Indianapolis, IN, Baltimore, MD, Lansing, MI, Grand Rapids, MI, Kansas City, MO, Minneapolis, MN, Stevens Point, WI, Madison, WI, Springfield/Richmond, VA, or Bedminster, NJ. For more information on how a Direct Adoption with Project Freedom Ride works or to meet this girl via video call, email [email protected]. As a Project Freedom Ride direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet would take place on video call (Facetime, FB Messenger Call, Whats App, or Google Duo).
