Poppy

7/21/24 - Poppy said "the weekends are for the dogs" She hopes everyone is having a gorgeous weekend after the rain! Poppy is still on the prowl for her family... Poppy comes to us from the South Texas hoard, and is in the best shape of the 5 pups we took in. She does have demodex mange, but has shampoo to help get rid of it and soothe her itchy skin. Poppy is about 7 lbs and 3-4 years old. Because she was in a hoarding situation with over 60 other pups she needs some TLC. Poppy has chunks missing from her ears that are healing up really well, and you can see tiny scars on each of her eyeballs from where her once long talons tore her eyes from constant itching. Thankfully it didn't cause permanent vision problems or eye damage, but those little spots show she once had ulcers that added to her previous pain and discomfort Poppy is sooooo sweet! She can be a little shy at first but oh so badly wants to be with people Poppy gets along with other tiny dogs and plays well. She does well using pee pads and going out to potty but she needs a little more time than others to go in the grass. It's been great for her to have foster pups to help teach her! After settling in, Poppy has demanded to sleep in bed with her fosters and loves to get deep undercover and is like a teenager that doesnt want to get up early. We have been bathing her every other day and while she isnt a fan, she isnt too squirmy and just let's us take care of her. Poppy is a good eater and loves treats. She will still need some work with socialization with strangers as she wants to run and hide initially.
