Precious

Available in TX, PNW and NE (excluding MA and NH) Meet Precious, affectionately nicknamed Ember, a sweet and loving 40-pound chocolate Lab mix with captivating eyes and an endearing stubby wagging tail. Precious has formed a special bond with her foster mom, Amanda, and has been a joy to foster. She is house-trained and will alert you when she needs to go outside, and though she was initially reluctant, she is now becoming more comfortable with crate training. Once in her crate, she settles in quietly. Precious hasn't had much experience with children, but she showed calm behavior when interacting with a young nephew. She has no special needs, though she has a history of a leg injury, so her walks are kept moderate to prevent soreness. She does well when left alone in her crate, even managing time outside her crate post-eye surgery without any issues. While she hasn't been around many other dogs, she did well at the shelter and is generally indifferent to cats. In the car, Precious is a calm and curious passenger, enjoying the view or lying down. She loves her toys, especially Kongs with peanut butter, bones, and squeaky toys she can dissect. Though she enjoys playing, she's mostly a laid-back and sleepy companion who adores being close to her humans. Precious enjoys moderate activity levels, thriving on two 15-20 minute walks a day. She loves rolling in the grass and sunbathing. Though still learning tricks and commands, she's a dream on a leash, rarely pulling and walking smoothly. Her ideal home would be one where she can spend plenty of time with her people, following them from room to room, sleeping nearby, and enjoying a soft bed and toys. She will need a patient family to help her fully come out of her shell, as she may have experienced some rough treatment in the past. However, once she feels secure, she is an absolute love bug, ready to greet you with a wagging tail and a sweet smile every morning. Precious is a resilient spirit who has blossomed in her foster home, now reveling in the simple joys of a dog's life. She might need a little extra time and patience, but she promises to be a loyal and loving companion, ready to embark on a new adventure with her forever family. She's adaptable and would likely handle a multi-day transport north well, as she has shown resilience and a loving nature even in new situations.
