My Story

Meet Prince  Male, long-haired Chihuahua mix, 8 pounds, approximate age between 5 and 7 yrs old  Prince was picked up as a stray in California and placed in an already overwhelmed shelter. No one came to claim this poor guy and he was not doing well in the shelter environment. As you may already know, we also partner with shelters in California that need help due to the overwhelming number of dogs coming in on a daily basis. #rescuerelocation He was transferred into our care and is now available for adoption. Prince is in foster care in Duncan.  Our precious prince continues to seek his perfect match, a loving family to share a lifetime of joy and love. Where is the special soul meant to complete his heart? He is a very silly, sweet and sensitive boy. Prince has been living with multiple other small dogs and cats in his foster and is good with them. He enjoys playing with the girls a bit more than the boys and is interested in the cats, but polite about it. Some of Prince's favourite things are his squeaky toys and playing games of tug-of-war, head and butt rubs, kisses, snuggles, sunbathing and of course, treats! When he is meeting new people he can be vocal and then quite shy/aloof, but with a little time and patience he will trust you. Once you gain his trust, he will reward you with a lot of kisses and snuggles. Prince needs someone gentle and patient, as he is still working on some things and building his confidence. He is not a fan of putting on wearing a collar/harness so we have been slowly working on getting him more comfortable with the idea and it is a work in progress - he much prefers to run around the farm then be leashed and walked. Prince can nip if he is too stressed about putting on his harness or walking gear. We do not know what in his past has triggered these reactions to leashing, but all we can do is move forward and help him overcome his fear. He loves his free roam on the farm and playing with his buddies! A fully fenced yard or large property is a must for Prince to continue his confidence building with leashing. He is looking a patient family that can continue to work on his confidence building. He is a wonderful little guy that just wants love and understanding and a forever home to keep him safe. Prince would prefer to live without large dogs or small children.
