Meet Reeses, as in Reese’s Pieces ? When we first met her she was terrified and wanted to rip us to pieces, but give her a few days and she will love you to pieces instead! Nothing is more rewarding than earning the trust of these scared little ones whose instinct is to lash out when scared, and watching their entire personality change once they realize they can trust you. This under 2 year old scruffy yorkie/Shih tzu mix has plenty of reason to be so distrustful. Her owner never socialized her with other people and would go on vacations and leave her alone in her apartment for days at a time. One day she got evicted and just left this scared little girl behind. Luckily authorities found her before it was too late and healthwise she’s just fine. Her emotional trauma from being left alone so much and getting proper socialization as a puppy are much harder to overcome. Once she loves you, there is no better snuggler. If she could somehow melt into you or fuse herself to your lap like some kind of siamese twin she would do it in a heartbeat. Velcro dog isn’t a strong enough term, she’s more like a magnet ? who will do whatever it takes to get to her person. No gate can hold her, she climbs out of any expen, leaps or squeezes through extra tall baby gates (we haven’t witnessed all of her magical escapes, just know she’s always somehow popping up places she’s not supposed to be. She loves to throw her toys around and play catch with herself, and races and flies around doing zoomies when she gets excited, he lips flapping in the wind showing just how many teeth she has. Reeses is looking for a patient adult home that will love this crazy little monkey ? flying squirrel ?? cat ? hybrid, for better or worse, and have a sense of humor about her antics and adventurous spirit. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
