My Story

Hiya friends! My name is RILEY and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Shepherd mix Age: Approx. 1.5 years Gender: Female Weight: 45 lbs (20.5 kg) Height: 62 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 73 cm (head to butt) Neck: 36 cm Chest: 69 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - My rescue journey began when I was found abandoned and alone outside of a local veterinarian's office. Can you believe it?! I was just a wee puppy! Despite my rough start, I was found in relatively good health and just needed a safe place to land and some TLC (take a look at my rescue photo!). Thank goodness for my rescuer who brought me to the shelter where I'm safe, sound, and ready for my next great adventure! TEMPERAMENT - My rescuer says I'm a sweet and happy girl, just look at my smile! I just looove attention from hoomans and am ready for all the lovin', as you can see in my videos! ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I'm a playful gal and enjoy time with my fellow doggos at the local dog park! I play well with dogs of all shapes and sizes, too! Any chance to go on a walk, I'll take it! I'm ready for allll of the walks and loves when I find my forever family, will it be you?! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids Unknown. I haven't had much exposure to kiddos thus far. Dogs You betcha! I get along well with dogs and have lots of canine friends here at the shelter. Cats Unknown. I don't have any known experience around kitties. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they TRAINING: Leash skills Pretty good! My rescuer says I'm doing well on a leash (check out this video)! However, I sometimes get distracted and will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! House trained Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives. HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live. WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
