My Story

Meet Roman If you are interested in any of the dogs available at New Leash Rescue, you can reach out to the foster listed below for more information and then complete an adoption application which can be found at https://www.newleashrescue.org/adopt/policy. Please email the completed application to [email protected] Roman came to New Leash 5 years ago and waited very long and patiently for a home. That day finally came and he was overjoyed. He thrived in his home until the baby came. Then that baby started getting up in his space and Roman was not a fan. His owners could see how miserable this made Roman and made the difficult decision to return him to New Leash so he could find a home with no young children. Roman was originally picked up by local animal control and during his stay, he quickly became a staff favorite. When no one came to claim him, the staff contacted New Leash hoping we could help. Who could say no to that beautiful smile? Roman is a Velcro pittie. He lays on top of you or has to be touching you at especially at night so allowing him to sleep in bed with you is a must. He's not a fan of strangers or kids so active households or homes with young children are not a good fit. He would be great in a home with a couple or a single person. He is full of energy and loves zooming around the yard so a fenced in yard is preferred. A good chase and a game of tug-of-war delights him. He isn't much of a barker but sings for attention. He does great on walks. Dog parks not recommended. He is picky about his canine friends, gets along better with female dogs. He ignores cats. He is great left out when his foster parents are gone but is fine being crated too. His foster family loves his lavish displays of joy when they come home and his dance of delight at dinner time. Roman doesn't handle change easily. He is shy and it scares him. His body language to show he's not comfortable is to freeze. His ideal family needs to understand this and be able to tune into his energy. When he first came to his foster home he was very timid. He was given plenty of space and left alone. This was important to do. It took about 2 weeks before he felt brave enough to start seeking attention from his foster parents. Now his goofy, lovable personality is out and it was so worth the wait. He really is a wonderful dog just waiting patiently for his perfect family. This boy would make a great addition to a family! Adoption fee is $350 + tax (no checks) Foster to contact: Ben & Tracy - [email protected]
