My Story

Sadie is approximately 2-3 years old in these pictures taken January 27, 2008. She came into the shelter when her owner got hooked on drugs and abandoned her when she had to leave town. We also took in her sister cat, Princess. Sadie is a little shy at first, but soon warms up to you. She enjoys getting attention and is real lovey. Sadie loves running and playing in the yard alone or with the other dogs.

Sadie does have a heart condition in which she has to take medication for. It is to keep her heart beating correctly. The medication isn't very expensive. Sadie is worth the little extra expense.

This is what the vet says about Sadie's condition:
Sadie came in for a spay on 1/30/08. Pre-surgical exam revealed an abnormal heart rate and rhythm. Spay was cancelled and ECT, radiographs, and blood work preformed. Blood work was normal. Chest radiographs showed slightly enlarged left atrium (heart chamber). Electrocardiogram revealed a very slow heart rate and irregular beats. There is a part of the heart that is called the A-V Node. This must be working properly for the heart to function. Sadie's A-V Node is not functioning properly. This is called 2nd degree heart block. Mobitz Type I. She is on medication to help with this condition and at follow-up on 2/28/08 was doing well and did great under anesthesia for her spay. Further diagnosis should include an ultrasound of the heart and ECG follow-up as necessary. A pacemaker implantation may be necessary in the future if her condition gets worse. A cardiologist can help with these decisions. She is a happy, bouncy dog who shows no outward signs of heart problems.
